    The
    Chief Joseph Trail Ride
    is one of the longest-running historic
    rides
    in the United States, having been hosted by the Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC) since 1965. It retraces the route taken by
    Chief Joseph
    and his people as they fled capture by the U.S. Cavalry during the Conflict of 1877. It is a 1300 mile ride and is an annual event. This belt buckle marks the 50th anniversary of this ride. This buckle is a little over 4 1/2" from side to side. It is a little over 3 1/2" from top to bottom. It weighs 5 ounces so it is pretty heavy. To my knowledge there is no sterling on this buckle, most likely german silver and the stones may not even be genuine. It is a pretty piece of Native American homage.
