ANTIQUES IN GENERAL
: I have been selling antiques on Ebay for many years now. I am an antique enthusiast and collector of old glass, pottery, decoys, etc. I find it completely fascinating. I am a huge advocate of antique carnival glass. There is nothing else like it in the world of antiques...in my opinion...not even close. You my note my format is very simple. I fully intend it to be that way. I do not think it is necessary to include a bunch of glitz, glamour and special effects...the photographs say it all. You will find my descriptions much more detailed than you will get at any public auction I guarantee you. I do my best to point out true issues. I am not perfect, but I try to be. True antique glass, in particular, always has some sort of manufacturing marks. It was made a century ago and mass produced, cheaply, well before quality standards were even an idea.
Well before cell phones, computers, technology. People during that time still went to the corner drug store to use a phone! Horse and buggy were still common as a primary means of transportation! These antiques are awesome all by themselves. These historical pieces I sell are part of our history, as a country, and made right here in the good ole' USA unless I state otherwise. They represent a time period when America made things, great things...before it was popular to sell this country out. Imagine...made in the USA...what a concept!
Manufacturing marks...antique glass was not made perfectly. Thus...you will NEVER see me use the word MINT in my ads. There is no such thing. There are common marks that are known by us who love this glass and generally accepted. Surface stretch marks, straw marks, enclosed manufacturing bubbles, pulled and uneven edges, tool marks, rough seams, irregularly shaped bases, uneven edges, undissolved dye or pigment runs within the glass...among other things. If you ever saw one of the molds used to pour this glass, and studied glass making during that time period at all, you would fully understand. AND YOU SHOULD research it! If there are manufacturing marks out of the ordinary...I will mention it. Normal manufacturing marks though, will not be mentioned, and should certainly be anticipated! I include 12 photos for assessment purposes. This is iridized antique pressed/poured glass. The only thing that makes it different from plain pressed pattern glass is it is iridized!
Each piece was iridized individually...by hand. Some workers took great pride in that they did. Others did not. Thus there is a wide variety of iridescent presentations available, per pattern, per base glass color. It makes each piece unique!
EDUCATION
: It is always a great idea to educate yourself about antiques you are interested in before you purchase from me or anyone else. I highly encourage it. It will further hone your appreciation and interest. For Antique Carnival Glass...I highly recommend David Doty's price guides as the best reference to patters with. His updated 1998 Price Guide...updated in 2000...is the best book on Antique Carnival Glass in my opinion. It is hard to find, but well worth the money when you can find it. I also recommend Edwards and Carwile's Carnival Glass Encyclopedia...there are several editions. I have found they cover the widest array of patterns and the text is excellent. There are many other references available, some good, some not. Nothing, however, takes the place of handling the glass. Lots of it.
PAYMENTS
: I always appreciate quick payments. I grant extra time if needed and I will work with people if you contact me ahead of time.
SHIPPING
: I only ship on Saturday's and Monday's. I ship USPS Priority Mail exclusively. It is faster, and the least amount of time a box spends in the Postal System...the better. I have had great luck for many, many years using it. I use excellent packaging components and pack every piece like I want them packaged for me. I have had thousands of feedbacks complimenting my packing if you care to read them all. I take great pride in taking care of these historical pieces.
SHIPPING DISCOUNTS
: Nobody, including me, likes shipping costs. They are what they are though. I will discount shipping as much as I can if you win multiple pieces. How much depends on the size of a box, weight, and most of all where you live. There is a great difference in price depending on location. I can ship to Canada cheaper than I can ship to the far west coast, far east cost or far southwest. Crazy, but again...it is what it is.
Insurance is always included in the price. I wouldn't think of shipping without insurance.
Packing materials are expensive...and I do include small fees to help offset it. There is no profit in shipping! I lose money every year shipping these antiques. Please allow me to send an invoice at the end of the auctions, before you pay, and I will discount shipping for multiple pieces won at that time.
RETURNS
: All purchases are final. I run 7 and 10 day auctions...nearly always include 12 photos and detailed descriptions. There is plenty of information to make an educated decision with. There is more than adequate time to ask questions. If I make a mistake, I will make it right. Work with me directly please. However...I have no tolerance for buyers remorse. And if you choose to use eBay's return policy...you can count on being blocked from any future bidding. You do not get to return items at Public Auctions...and this is an auction...an auction with far more detail and information than any Public Auction. Do not take advantage if you value bidding.
